Day01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1350m)
As you land in the TIA airport in Kathmandu, you will be greeted by representative from Trekking in Nepal. You will complete your custom formalities and then meet with our representative who will take you to the luxurious hotel. You will be briefly explained about the 22days Island Peak and Lobuche Peak Expedition then enjoy the welcome dinner in the evening.
Day02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu
We will take half day tour of Kathmandu and visit UNESCO enlisted sites of Pashupatinath, Bouddhanath, Swayambhunath and Kathmandu Durbar Square. We will return back to hotel where you will be explained about the nature of trek and you will also be introduced with your team leader and other crew members.
Day03: Kathmandu Lukla Flight Trek to Phakding (2652m) 4hrs
It takes about 40 minutes of Kathmandu Lukla flight to arrive at Tenzing Hilary Airport in Lukla. The air route from Kathmandu to Lukla is taken to be one of the best air routes in the world as you will have plenty of opportunity to enjoy sights of several mountains and valleys. Remember to take the seat at right side of aeroplane for the better views. We will cross Thadokoshi River and Dudhkoshi River at few points to reach Ghat which takes us further to Phakding village.
Day04: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m) 6hrs
Crossing Dudhkoshi River at few points, we will reach Benkar village. Enroute we will enjoy the sight of Thamserku Mountain. Our trekking permits will be checked at the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park which exists in Monjo village. Lowering down to Jorsale, we will cross the suspension bridge named after Sir Edmund Hilary and take the steep climb to Namche Bazaar.
Day05: Acclimatization Day at Namche Bazaar
Namche Bazaar is known as the Gateway of Khumbu region. We will have the wonderful sights of Kusum Kangaru, Kwangde, Tawache peaks and Everest, Lhotse and other mountains from Namche Bazaar. This is rest day required for proper acclimatization. We can either explore the market area or visit to nearby Thame or Khunde village.
Day06: Trek to Tengboche (3870m) 6hrs
Crossing the forest of rhododendron and other alpine flowers which supports wildlife like Thar and musk deer, we will follow the descending trail to Kayangjuma and continue the journey to Sanasa where the main trail meets with the off the beaten track towards Gokyo Valley and Everest Base Camp. Crossing the bridge over Dudhkoshi River, we will reach Phukithanka from where we will take the steep climb to Tengboche which holds the largest Buddhist monastery in entire Khumbu region.
Day07: Trek to Dingboche (4360m) 6hrs
We will enjoy the panoramic views of Everest, Amadablam and Nuptse Mountains from Tengboche and lower down through the dense forest to river. We will cross the river and take steep climb through the dry terrain to Sherpa village of Pangboche. Ascending further through the street lined with mani walls and chortens, we will head north to Pheriche where we can see the helipad. From Pheriche, we will reach Dingboche and stay overnight.
Day08: Trek to Lobuche (4940m) 6hrs
We will ascend further to Khumbu Glacier. Steep climb will take us to Chupki Lhara from where we will descend through Khumbu glacier moraine to Lobuche that offers striking views of Khumbutse, Pumori and other mountains. We will stay overnight at Lobuche.
Day09: Trek to Gorakshep (5170m) and to EBC (5364m) Return to Gorakshep 8hrs
From Lobuche, we will take the casual stroll through Gorakshep Lake to Mountaineer’s Memorials. The tricky trail from Gorakshep Lake will take us to Everest Base Camp. The route is difficult to ascend because of its high altitude and also because the route progresses through avalanche prone area. We will enjoy the sight of Nuptse, Pumori and Khumbutse Mountains from EBC and return to Gorakshep.
Day10: Trek to Kalapatthar (5545m) Return to Lobuche (4940m) 6hrs
Trek begins early in the morning. We will watch sunrise view over Mount Everest from Kalapatthar. Kalapatthar also offers sights of Khumbutse, Nuptse, Lingtren, Changtse and other mountains. We will retrace our route back to Lobuche via Gorakshep.
Day11: Trek to Lobuche East High Camp (5400m) 5hrs
We will follow the straight path for a while before taking the sharp ascend through the Lobuche Glacier that allows exquisite views of Amadablam, Thamserku, Cholatse, Kantega, Pokalde and other peaks. We will walk through the glaciated moraine to Lobuche East High Camp.
Day12: Reach to summit of Lobuche Peak (6119m) Return to High Camp I 9hrs
We need to wake up early in the morning as it is going to be the long journey. Difficult ascend of the peak through the glaciers will take us to the Lobuche summit that offers views of Lhotse, Nuptse, Cholatse, Everest, Amadablam and Pumori Mountains. We will lower down to High Camp I and stay overnight.
Day13: Spare Day
This is the contingency day included in Island peak and Lobuche Peak Expedition itinerary so that our schedule will not get affected even if we are delayed in climbing Lobuche Peak due to unforeseen circumstances like unfavorable weather or bad health condition of our members of our team.
Day14: Trek to Chhukung (4730m) 7hrs
After taking light breakfast, we will take early morning trek through Khumbu glacier moraine to Kongmala base camp. We will take the strenuous ascend to Kongmala summit and lower down to Imja Khola Valley. Walking through the valley, we will reach Chhukung which is the summer settlement of locals.
Day15: Trek to Island Peak Base Camp (5200m) 4hrs
Heading south from Chhukung, we will take the steep climb to reach the moraine of Lhotse Glacier from where the trail continues through southwestern side of Island peak to the Base Camp of Island Peak. We will set our camp at the moraine landscape in Island Peak Base Camp.
Day16: Climb Island Peak Return to Island Peak Base Camp
It is the challenging day. We will begin our trek early in the morning as it is going to be long and tiring experience. Despite we will be drained out of energy, the climb will be rewarding as the summit of Island Peak offers striking views of Pumori(7161m), Lhotse (8516m), Makalu (8463m), Lobuche (6145m), Cho Oyu (8201m) and other mountains and peaks. Descending to Island Peak Base Camp, we will celebrate the successful climb of Island Peak.
Day17: Spare Day
This is the contingency day included in Island peak and Lobuche Peak Expedition itinerary so that our schedule will not get affected even if we are delayed in climbing Island Peak due to unforeseen circumstances like unfavorable weather or bad health condition of our members of our team.
Day18: Trek to Pangboche (3985m) 6hrs
We will retrace our route through Khumbukhola valley and pass through Sherpa villages of Orsho and Shomare to reach Pangboche which offers close up views of Imjatse River and Everest, Kongde, Amadablam, Thamserku and other peaks and mountains.
Day19: Trek to Namche Bazaar 5hrs
Lowering down to Imja Khola, we will traverse the woods of blooming rhododendron and other alpine flowers at Tengboche and cross Dudhkoshi River over bridge to reach Sansa village. Passing through the street lined with mani walls and chortens, we will arrive at Army Camp in Namche Bazaar.
Day20: Trek to Lukla 7hrs
We will follow the downward trail for most of the day. We will cross Dudhkoshi River at few points and pass through Sherpa villages to Lukla where we will stay overnight.
Day21: Lukla Kathmandu Flight
Early in the morning, we will catch the Lukla Kathmandu flight. The representative will take us to hotel in Kathmandu where we will stay overnight.
Finally an undeniable time to bid goodbye arrives. You will be assisted with your last moment preparation and dropped at TIA, Kathmandu from where you will board the flight to your next destination.
