Jiri-Everest Base Camp Trek

Jiri-Everest Base Camp Trek is one of the popular trekking destinations in Everest region for the trekkers who want to climb to the Everest region all the way from Jiri. Normally, trekkers prefer to take a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla for their Everest trekking itinerary. However, for Jiri-Everest Base Camp Trek, one has to trek from Jiri, a small town situated near from the Capital, to Lukla and onwards. This trekking itinerary has been enlisted as one of the best and famous trekking routes in the world. Jiri-Everest Base Camp Trek requires more days than normal trekking itinerary and it is almost ideal to the ones who have enough time and who want to explore every bit of Everest region its natural beauty and also the amazing mountain views.
Jiri-Everest Base Camp Trek at ‘Himalayan Trek Nepal’ lasts for around 26 days during which time you will first reach Lukla in around a week of trekking from Jiri, and then continue along the trail leading to Namche, Everest Base Camp, Kalapatthar and so on. It all begins with a pleasant drive (8 hour) from Kathmandu to the town of Lukla, situated to the east, along the Araniko Highway. The distance is around 188 kms and the road journey will be a memorable one as you will travel along serpentine road along with scenic views of mountains and hills and the flowing river of Bhotekoshi and Tamakoshi. Jiri is located at an altitude of 2100 meters and around seven days of trekking from Jiri will lead us to the much awaited Lukla.
The popular Cho La Pass, Kalapatthar, Gokyo Valley and Gokyo peak (Ri), and several Buddhist Gompas and monasteries which fall in the middle of the trail are some of the major attractions of the trek from Jiri to Everest. It once used to be a happening trekking trail in the Everest region. However, after the operation of regular flights from Kathmandu to Lukla, Jiri-EBC Trek has lost its charm considerably as many trekkers prefer to fly until Lukla before starting the trek. The real adventure seekers, however, still prefer this old trekking route as they want to experience the real thrill and adventure of trekking.

Day 05: Rest Day at Junbesi:
Getting proper rest matters a lot when it comes to acclimatizing to the high altitude. Thus we will postpone our Everest from Jiri Trek for the day. Plodding along Dudh Kosi River, we will cross the bridge and enter the serene belt of Sagarmatha National Park. Escalating through Himalayan Pine and Deodar Cedar forests, we will arrive at Namche Bazaar which falls under one of the biggest villages on Everest Trail. Namche Bazaar is historically prominent for being the ancient trade center for Nepalese and Tibetan traders who exchange salt, dried meat and other consumable and textile items.

Day 11: Rest Day at Namche Bazaar:
There is going to be a remarkable increase in altitude after Namche Bazaar. Thus acclimatization is a must whereby we will try synchronizing our bodily functions in accordance to the given surrounding. It is better to visit the local Bazaar of Namche and the nearby Sherpa villages rather than lying idle. Or you can proceed to the nearby Museum that depicts the culture of indigenous Sherpa people. We will stay in hotel at Namche Bazaar for the night.

Day 12: Trek to Thame:
4hours of trekking through the easy trail should be enough to take you to Thame. Heading west, we will have a gentle descend to Bhote Koshi Valley afterwards which the trail escalates uphill to Thame that offers enticing spectacle of Teng Kangpoche and Kwangde Mountains.

Day 13: Trek to Khumjung:
Traveling across the valleys along the rhododendron, juniper and coniferous woods, we will walk past the meadows with lush green vegetation. Amusing ourselves with the views of yaks and sheep grazing on the green pasture field, we will arrive at enchanting Khumjung Village inhabited by Sherpa.

Escalating uphill about 300 meters we will eventually enter the Gokyo Valley. Waddling across several glacier lakes, we will make an advance to the amazing Gokyo Valley. Located to the base of Gokyo Peak, Gokyo boasts in bestowing the view of Ngozumpa glacier, the largest glacier in the Himalayas.

My friend and I had never been to Nepal, we decided to go on a spur of the moment decision with no expectations. We ended up meeting Prakash from Osho at the airport in Kathmandu and from there we arranged some activities including a scenic flight to Everest and of course trekking! Our experience trekking was incredible, the highlight of our trip. Our guides Ram and Prakash were wonderful and the local Nepalese people in the Annapurna region are amazing. The Poon Hill trek is highly recommended! Thanks to Osho for everything, I highly recommend Dinesh and Co. Our only regret is not staying in Nepal for longer. I'll be back again!

I was initially somewhat nervous about what my adventure would entail, but in the trusty hands of my wonderful guide Prakash Khanal, my only challenges each day were the hills and what meals to order! A sign of a great trek is one you'll never forget, a sign of a great guide is one that you'll miss. A truly fabulous experience all round.

In Kathmandu there is so many tour operators and there is really hard to chose good one. There is few reason I would really like to recommend Osho Vision Treks: 1) We got really good prize. Mr. Prakash met us on our arrival in airport and was really helpful and trustworthy. We compare his prize with several other tour operators and he really give us the best one. Here is contact on him (pl.oshovision@gmail.com - +9779851013032) 2) Owner of the office Mr. Dinesh is really great guy. He is busy businessman but really helpful. We trusted him with our passports and China visa and he manage to pick it up for us very safely. In the end of our stay he even invited us for a dinner. Really great guy! 3) Best of all was our guide Udaye. We chose him based on other great reviews here and we was definitely not disappointed. He is young and smart guide with sense of humor and great knowledge about Nepal and mountain. Take him specially if you are planning to visit Manaslu region. He was born here and knows everything about it.

Osho Vision has a superbly professional team and I was looked after way beyond my expectations by Kedar Mani Khanal. Every little detail from hotel and flight bookings to professional guides was faultless. All of this was delivered with personal service and a smile. I will never need to go anywhere else for any sight seeing, mountain trekking or any of the other things I choose to do. Thank you, thank you, thank you for making my first trip to Nepal such an effortless pleasure! Paula Mayura.

Just fantastic.Osho vision made my dream of Treking in the Himalayas come true. The company were professional and my guide Kapil KC was nothing short of fantastic. He was kind, considerate and clever.I enjoyed his company and he was the guide I always used.I ended up doing four treks with the company over 10 weeks including Everest and the Annapurna trek.It is fair to say that this is a reflection of how highly I rated the company and my guide.I apologise for the delay in posting this .However I am still in contact with Kapil as we remain friends. He still works for the company and as do many individuals.I am confident that their standards will still remain the same.Avoid cheaper companies. You do not want to be stuck on a trek in the world's highest mountains with a dodgy company!!Some are.

“Beyond expectations” W e organised our 3 week adventure around Nepal with Dineash from Osho Vision Treks. In our initial meeting he listened to our requests & designed a tour according to our wishes. Our trip included a comfortable Scorpio car, a proficient courteous driver (Dipak) sightseeing around Kathmandu & the Kathmandu Valley, a 2 day rafting trip on the Trishuli river, Pokhara, a soft 2 day trek in the foothills of the Annapurnas, Lumbini, a 3 night 4 day package in the Royal Chitwan National Park, Nagarkot, Dhuulikhel and back to Kathmandu. Our trip included all hotels & breakfasts & full board when rafting & at Chitwan. Most of our accommodation was excellent. Dipak was a great driver, always on time & an extremely safe driver. Dineash rang everyday to check all was well on our trip. We had an absolutely fantastic time in Nepal thanks to Dineash & his team. I would highly recommend his services to one & all.
