Jomsom Muktinath Ghorepani Trekking

Jomsom Muktinath trek is a trekking which is conducted up to Muktinath Temple of Mustang District. The trail has its own distinct feature and uniqueness. The maximum altitude we explore is only 3800m at Muktinath Temple. Starting from Nayapul up to Jomsom the trail passes through small up and down and some cross country route of hilly region. But when we futher continue toward Muktinath from Jomsom the thing is different. We feel like we were on the moon although there is no change in gravity. All we can see is amazing landscape of Kali Gandaki with stone and dust everywhere. Not even single bushes on the next bank of kaligandaki, Different shape and geographical structure of land are the unique feature of Muktinath.
During the
Trek to Jomsom One storied flat roof house with pile of wood on roof is the unique housing settlement of Thakali people. Less rainfall is another factor which contributes to change mustang in deserty area. In Nepal all the mountain are viewed on the southern side but if you attend Jomsom Muktinath trekking then you get chance to explore Mountain on the Northern side from Mustang valley that’s why Nepal government has declared Mustang as "District Beyond Himalaya". Another point of attraction is the light that continues for more than 20 years with the help of natural gas from underground. There are alternative options to shorten or extend your trek to Jomsom as per your time schedule.

Details Itinerary for Jomsom Muktinath Trek :
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1345m)
Analogous to other trekking itinerary our airport diplomat will relocate you to the hotel after your influx in TIA. A brief class with reference to trekking is conducted at the end of the day after some welcome lunch. Overnight in hotel.
Day 02: Guided sight seen of Kathmandu valley (1345m)
After an early breakfast we will initiate you with your guide, a government certified registered trekking guide. Today in a private vehicle we will explore all historically and culturally important place of Kathmandu valley like Swoyambunath, Pasupatinath, Durbar square as well as Patan valley and its foremost places. At the end of the day our guide will retrace you to the hotel for overnight.
Day 03: Drive to Pokhara (823m)
Early in the morning we will head on the road to Pokhara valley with tourist coach exploring the country side of Nepal. With some typical glimpse of local hotel at Malekhu we continue further toward the Pokhara valley by the side of Trishuli River. After reaching Pokhara our guide will transfer you to the hotel at the lake side where you can take some rest after long drive of about 200 Km from Kathmandu. Even at the late night we can walk around lake side for some refreshment.
Day 04: Drive to Nayapul and trek to Tikhe Dunga (1540m)
After having breakfast in the morning a private van will drop us on the Nayapul after 1 hour of drive. Nayapul is the starting point of
Annapurna Trek,
Ghorepani Pooh hill Trek and our
Jomsom Muktinath trek. After commencing a trek at Nayapul we slowly push up ourselves toward Tikhe Dunga. Passing through numerous Gurung villages we will hike ourselves toward passing through Birenthati a small market place adjacent to Modi River. Overnight at Tikhe Dunga.
Day 05: Trek to Ghorepani (2750m)
Trail descend toward to cross Burungdi Khola and after slowly ascending up through steep stone staircase up to Ulleri Village. Ghorepani is an interesting place with some small local shop selling local product. From ghorepani a nice range of High Mountain can be observed. As the day pass by climate get chilling because of altitude. A nice sunset can be observed from Ghorepani at dusk.
Day 06: Trek to Tatopani (1190m)
Early in the morning we will hike up toward a luminous view tower at the top of Poon Hill from where a very astonishing sunrise can be observed along with entire Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range. After some amazing sunrise turning white mountain into Golden we will tumble down toward Ghorepani for a breakfast. After crossing few suspension bridges we will reach Tatopani. The actual meaning of Tatopani in English is hot spring. There is a natural hot spring where we can take shower just to get revitalized.
Day 07: Trek to Tukuche (2500m)
Passing through cross country trail we will continue toward Tukuche. On the way we can view Settlement of Thakali People. On the way we will have lunch in Ghasa and further ahead we can observe a longest waterfall Rupse Jharana. On the way we will reach a great amazing green field which is parrot green in color a very eye-catching color. It just gives us the sensation of European country with nice wooden fence around the orchid of Oak tree. After some break in the field we just get recharged and refill ourselves with stamina to continue toward Tukuche. Overnight at Tukuche.
Day 08: Trek to Marpha (2670m)
Early in the morning after a breakfast we will continue toward Marpha. The trail is flat with no more up and down. It is an easy trail. After few hours of trek we will reach a delightful apple capital of Nepal name Marpha. Marpha is mainly famous for its apple along with other local apple product. We can see amazing settlement of Thakali people in stone colored house almost attached with each other just to prevent from dusty wind with slender road in flanked by entire village. If you feel cold don’t forget to grab a bottle of Marpha wine made up of apple or bottle of brandy.
Day 09: Trek to Kagbeni (2800m)
After few hours of trek we will reach Jomsom. Jomsom is a bit advance than other place as there is a airstrip, Health post, army barrack and even you can enjoy Wi-Fi services. After lunch at Jomsom now we should get ready for space travel without customized space suit. All the way what we face is strong wind with dust particles, stone, amazing smooth surfaced hill without even a single bushes all similar to desert and surface of moon. Passing through a windy bridge at Eklae Bhatti we will continue to trek toward Kagbeni through the bank of kali Gandaki. Kagbeni is a nice settlement of Tibetan people with a grouped housing with praying flags in the roof of each and every single house. If we go further south from Kagbeni we can explore Upper Mustang Trekking trail, a restricted area trekking of Nepal. But tomorrow we will hike up toward east for Muktinath Temple our final destination.
Day 10: Trek to Muktinath (3800m)
Early in the morning after having delicious breakfast we will hike up toward Muktinath through windy road. On the way we explore typical Tibetan people engaged in hand looming activity. Yak, horses are the traditional means of transport however today any jeep and bus can drive to Muktinath. Exploring the amazing land structure of hill of Muktinath region we will soon reach to Muktinath temple after few hours of walking. A temple is situated inside a high compound wall including a Buddhist Monastery and a Continuous flame for more than 20 years. Nearby the gate of temple we can purchase ancient fossil of fish, insect and plant collected from Damodar Kunda which lies in the portion of trekking in restricted area trekking at Upper Mustang.
Day 11: Trek to Jomsom (2710m)
Today all the way we will descend toward Kagbeni via same route as yesterday. Walking through same desert road facing a challenge of strong wind we will continuously move toward Jomsom. At Jomsom one can enjoy hot shower in bathroom and enjoy a Wi-Fi services with Glimpse of Mt. Nilgiri right in front of window like a painting in window just smiling at us. Overnight in Hotel at Jomsom with Parke ting for purpose of warming the home.
Day 12: Flight from Jomsom to Pokhara (823)
Early in the morning we will fly back to Pokhara via Jomsom airport with aerial view form window of plane of almost mustang region with Annapurna range right below us. After landing on Pokhara after 10 minutes of flight rest of the remaining day you are set free to do anything. Either you can take some rest or Explore Pokhara valley.
Day 13: Drive back to Kathmandu via tourist coach (1345m)
Early in the morning via tourist coach we will roll over back to Kathmandu valley through same highway exploring once again the country side of Nepal. After arriving in Kathmandu our guide will transfer you to the hotel. At evening before the departure day you can conduct some shopping as reminiscence before returning to your country.
