Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be received and welcomed by our team members and representatives. From the Airport, you will then be transferred to the Hotel where you will be briefed about the travel itinerary. Overnight stay at the Hotel.
Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu and obtain Visa
The next day, you will be completing the formalities like acquiring Chinese Visa for the impending Tibet tour. Once you get the Visa from the authorities, you will then go on a sightsee tour around the Capital visiting the monuments and the temples, the heritages and also the Durbar Squares of Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur. After completing the sightseeing tour, you will return back to the Hotel.
Day 03: Fly to Gongar Airport and drive to Lhasa (3660m)
On the third day, you will catch an early morning flight Gongar which will take around an hour to reach the Airport. The short flight will be a memorable one as you will fly past the Himalayan Mountain range and will also get to see the mountain views. After landing at Gongar Airport, you will then drive to Lhasa, the Tibetan Capital which will take around a couple of hours of drive. Overnight stay at a hotel in Lhasa.
Day 04: Sightseeing tour in Lhasa
The next day, you will be enjoying a full day of sightseeing tour in Lhasa, exploring the major sites in Lhasa. You will visit the popular Sera Monastery, the Norbulinga Palace- also known as the summer house of Dalai Lama and the Jokhang Temple- which is a spiritual centre of Tibetan Village. You will then follow the pilgrimage circuit around the ancient streets of the old city near the Barkhor market, enjoy the market area and then return to the hotel in the evening.
Day 05: Second day sightseeing tour in Lhasa
Early in the morning of the third day, you will again embark on a second day sightseeing tour of Lhasa. On this day, you will explore the magnificent Potala Palace and Drepung Monastery. The 17th century Potala Palace offers a breathtaking view across the city and also has private rooms of the Dalai Lama, many large state rooms and chapels. Potala Palace is a great example of ancient Tibetan art and architecture. After spending some time visiting Potala Palace, you will then visit Drepung -one of the largest monasteries in Tibet.
Day 06: Start of cycling tour (80 km)
Your official cycling tour starts on the sixth day from Lhasa. It will be an amazing trans-Himalayan biking adventure. On the first day of the cycling tour, you will reach closer to Kamba Pass situated at an altitude of 3700 meters, crossing Tsangpo River on the way. On this day, you will cross over 80 kilometers and stay overnight at a tented camp.
Day 07: Cycle to Kamba Pass (55 km)
You will encounter your first mountain pass on the 7th day when you reach Kamba Pass by cycling. Kamba Pass is situated at an altitude of around 4794 meters. After descending from the Pass, we then continue to cycle down alongside Lake Yamdruk where we will set a temporary camp for the overnight stay.
Day 08: Cycle to Karo Pass (54 km)
Leaving the beautiful lake behind on the eighth day, we will continue to cycle along the Friendship Highway. The trail later takes the form of a gravel path and soon makes its way to the foot of the Karo Pass (4750m). Overnight stay at a tented camp near the Karo Pass.
Day 09: Cycle until Gyantse
The next day, you will get up early in the morning, take breakfast at the camp and then resume the cycling journey. On this day, you will cross the Karo Pass situated at 5010 meters of altitude. You will be blessed with some great views of the mountains and glaciers while on your way to Gyantse from Karo Pass. Overnight stay at a hotel.
Day 10: Cycle to Shigatse (94 km)
On the 10th day, you will be cycling to another important Tibetan city Shigatse from Gyantse covering the distance of around 94 kilometers. On your way, you will visit the Gyantse Dzong and Gyantse Kumbum. The Dzong is a fort dating back to the 14th century and it is one of the center attractions for the tourists. Although you will have to cover long distance today, it will be easier for you as the Highway is flat and smooth. In the afternoon you will arrive at Shigatse (3860m). Overnight stay at a hotel.
Day 11: Cycle to Gyachung Monastery (75 km)
We leave Shigatse on the 11th day and cycle towards the wonderful Gyachung Monastery. You can enjoy the amazing architecture of the monastery and set up a camp around the monastery so that you can stay overnight there.
Day 12: Cycle to Lhatse (95 km)
From Gyachung Monastery, we further cycle to Lhatse, enjoying the scenery along the way. The route leads us through picturesque valleys before ending up at Tso-La (4520m). After lunch at the Pass, we head towards Lhatse. The total distance you will be covering on the day will be 95 kilometers. Overnight stay at a tented camp.
Day 13: Cycle to Shegar (75 km)
From Lhatse, the destination of our journey will be Shegar. On the way, we will be crossing yet another Pass known as Gyatso-La. If it is a clear day, you will be lucky to see the first view of the Mount Everest while on your way to Shegar. Shegar is a popular stopover for anyone heading to the Everest region. The total distance you cover on the day is 75 kilometers. Overnight stay at a tented camp or guesthouse.
Day 14: Cross Pang Pass (67 km)
On the 14th day, you will be crossing the Pang Pass by moving along the way from Sheghar. You will then divert off the Lhasa-Kathmandu Highway and head towards the world's tallest peak, the Mount Everest. After crossing the border check point, you will then cross the Pang Pass at 5150 meters. Along the way, you will be rewarded with some of the great views of the mountains like Makalu (8463m), Mount Cho Oyu (8210m), Mount Lhotse (8516m), Mount Everest (8850m), among other mountain peaks. After crossing the pass, you then make your way towards the Rongbuk Valley (4200m). Overnight stay at a tented camp.
Day 15-16: Cycle to Rongbuk Monastery (35 km)
The next couple of days you will be cycling to the Rongbuk Monastery and explore the surrounding areas. The trail to the Rongbuk Valley and the Monastery offers some great views of the Mount Everest. You will camp beside the monastery along with the unforgettable view of the 8848 meter peak in front of you. You will spend two days at the Rongbuk Monastery and on the second day you can even get closer to Everest by taking a walk or cycling. Overnight stay at a tented camp.
Day 17: Cycle to Tingri (86 km)
Leaving Rongbuk on the 17th day, we head back down the bumpy road and make our way towards Tingri. Tingri is located at an altitude of 4340 meters. Overnight stay at a tented camp.
Day 18: Cycle to Lalung Pass (77 km)
On the 18th day, you will be crossing the Lalung Pass. Before lunch itself, you will be covering around 40 to 50 kilometers in bicycle ride. Lalung Pass is a tough pass to cross in Tibet and is located around 4990 meters of altitude. Overnight stay at a tented camp nearby the Pass.
Day 19: Cross Thang Pass and move downhill (117 km)
Today, you will be moving downhill and cross one more pass which is the Thang Pass. Thang Pass is located at an altitude of 5050m. For one more time, you will again be treated to some of the amazing views of the Himalayan Mountains. From the town of Nyalam, the trail starts to get green again as you enjoy cycling downhill. You will cycle past countless waterfalls and pine tree forests lining the road until you reach the border town of Zhangmu (2300m). This will be your last day in Tibet. Overnight stay at a hotel.
Day 20: Cycle back to Nepal
From Zhangmu, you will clear the immigration formalities and then enter Nepal. Once you are in the Nepali territory of Kodari, you will cycle further down the hill along the Araniko Highway, enjoying the scenic cycling along the Bhote Koshi River. You will eat something as you reach Dolalghat and rest for some time. Then you cycle further to Dhulikhel. Once you reach the city of Dhulikhel, you will then stay overnight at a hotel.
Day 21: Cycle to Kathmandu via Bhaktapur
After enjoying the sunrise view from Dhulikhel in the morning and after finishing the breakfast, you will then resume your last day of cycling from Dhulikhel to the nearby town of Bhaktapur. On the way, you will once again be greeted with great mountain views. After cycling around the ancient town of Bhaktapur, you will then make your way towards Kathmandu. You will travel around the Basantapur Durbar Square region in Kathmandu and return back to the Hotel. Overnight stay at a hotel.
Day 22: Free day in Kathmandu
The second last day of the itinerary has been planned so that you will take rest at the Hotel throughout the day. In the evening, you can stroll around the streets of Thamel and buy gifts and souvenirs to your loved ones. Overnight stay at the Hotel.
Day 23: Departure from Kathmandu
On the final day, you will be transferred from the Hotel to the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu from where you will take a flight back to your home country or to your next favored destination.
