Mountain Flight in Nepal
It was in the year 1933 that two Scots aviators David Mclntyre and Douglas Douglas- Hamilton took their PV-3 biplanes above the tallest Mountain of the World- Mount Everest. They were on the mission to shoot for the film”Wings over Everest” which won Oscar Award in the year 1934. This flight shaped the first history of Mountain Flight in Nepal.
Mountain flight emerged as the better alternative to the classical trekking in Nepal. It is the luxurious tour which became popular mode of exploring Nepal as it offered the same view that tourists could see through several days of perilous trekking. Thus, it enabled trekkers to save time and energy.
Four reputed Airlines companies have begun offering air flights service into the snow- clad mountains. Buddha Air Mountain Flight and Yeti air Mountain Flight are two giant air companies that are currently conducting regular plane flights.
It becomes easy to know about the mountains that are seen through the flight if you take Nepal map along with you as the map includes the information about name and position of mountains.
The flight begins early in the morning at around 6:30 am at the premises of Domestic Airport. The unpredictable nature of weather might deceive us during day. So, morning is the perfect time for the flight. Once the aircraft leaves the airport, it heads towards east and passes through several exotic mountains of Langtang Lirung, Shishapangma, Gauri Shankar, Melungtse and the sixth highest Mountain of the world- Cho Oyu before taking us to the close proximity of highest mountain of all- Mount Everest. Our return trip will be equally thrilling as we will enjoy the views of Lhotse, Nuptse and other peaks before returning back to the Domestic Airport of Kathmandu.
